Family law fees are typically billed at an hourly rate, except for the initial consultation.
All of my client relationships begin with a consultation. During the consultation, clients receive legal advice tailored for their particular situation and goals. Consultations are booked in 2-hour increments.
Legal representation takes many forms. From ongoing legal advice to handling all aspects of your matter, to appearance in Court on your behalf. Fortunately, representation can be tailored to your financial and legal needs.
All attorney-client representations will require a Fee Agreement and retainer, unless it’s a Limited Assistance Representation matter (see details below). The firm puts all retainers in a trust bank account (“IOLTA“), where it remains the client’s money until the firm earns and bills the client for their work. The firm refunds the remaining balance in the client’s trust account at the end of the representation.
Limited Assistance Representation:
One-time representation in Court. Representation includes legal advice and crafting a strategy with the client, drafting and filing necessary documents with the Court, appearance and representation at the hearing. Billed at a flat rate, depending on the matter.
